How to Find a SWIFT/BIC Code
The safest way to find a SWIFT code is to use the receiving bank or the beneficiary details. You can also use our lookup tool to search by bank name, city, country or code.
Check bank documents
Look on a bank statement, payment instruction, online banking page or account opening document. The code may be labelled SWIFT, BIC or SWIFT/BIC.
Search with the exact bank name
Use the bank English legal name rather than a nickname. If the bank has branches in several countries, include the country or city.
Confirm with the beneficiary
Before sending a large payment, ask the recipient to confirm the bank name, branch, account number and SWIFT/BIC code in writing.
