Free SWIFT/BIC API

Use the public JSON API for code lookup, validation, country lists and bank directories. The reference tier requires no API key. Cache responses and verify payment-critical data with the receiving bank.

1. SWIFT/BIC lookup

GET /api/swift/{code}

Returns bank, city, country, branch, address, postcode, status and SWIFT structure.

2. Validate a code

GET /api/validate?code=BKCHCNBJ

The response includes format validity and whether the code exists in the current database.

3. Country list

GET /api/countries

Returns country code, English name, Chinese name, SWIFT code count, bank count and city count.

4. Banks by country

GET /api/banks?country=CN&limit=100

Returns banks for an ISO country code. The maximum limit is 500.

Response and usage notes

  • Responses are JSON and include ok, data and optional error fields.
  • CORS is enabled for browser-based integrations.
  • Cache successful responses and avoid high-frequency polling.
  • The public reference tier is provided as-is and may be rate limited during abuse.
  • Do not use the API as the sole source for a payment decision. Confirm the final code with the receiving bank.
